Prof. Kirin A. Macapugay is a dedicated educator, scholar, and advocate with deep expertise in human services, social work, and equitable community engagement. She serves as a Professor of Human Services and Social Work at San Diego City College, where she has been instrumental in shaping inclusive and socially responsive academic programs.
She is the Co-Principal Investigator of ICAN, an AANAPISI Title III initiative focused on student access, equity, and success in higher education, particularly among Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. She also leads as the Director of PEER, a groundbreaking partnership with the San Diego Housing Commission that promotes pathways to economic and housing stability through education and support services.
Beyond academia, Prof. Macapugay plays a vital civic role as Vice Chair of the California Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs, where she also chairs the Higher Education Committee. Her advocacy and leadership emphasize the intersection of education, public policy, and social justice.
